Bihar Legislative Council employees suspended for writing about govt on Facebook

Patna,(BiharTimes): Two employees of the Bihar Legislative Council––both award-winning writers–– have been suspended for discussing administrative red-tapism and state politics on Facebook. This is the first punishment of its kind to be meted out to any government employee in the country. What is strange is that they were not even issued show cause notice.

The government action is being strongly criticized both online and offline.

Jail for those who neglect parents in Bihar

Get ready to spend three months in jail and pay a fine of Rs. 5000 if you live in Bihar and are found guilty of neglecting your parents.



The state government has decided to implement a new law to protect the rights of senior citizens. The Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act also looks out for the needs of those who don't have children. In their cases, legal heirs are responsible for maintenance which includes food, clothing, housing and medical expenses.

Nitish Kumar orders probe into Nalanda lathicharge

PATNA: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar ordered a probe on Thursday by AGP (headquarter) Rajyavardhan Sharma into the police lathicharge on locals in Nalanda and immediate suspension of policemen found involved in it.



"Legal action must be taken against those found guilty," he ordered and asked Director General of Police to view TV footages and take legal action against policemen found to be involved in it.

State to give boost to farm production

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar reiterated that his government had prepared agriculture development plan to give a boost to farm productivity.

Launching the pilot project of Bihar Shatabdi Niji Nalkoop Yojana (BSNNY) in Sarairanjan block of Samastipur district he said there was huge demand from among farmers for shallow tubewells and pump sets. Metro rail to come to Patna

Patna, Sep 2 (IANS) Patna is set to get Metro rail.
A meeting with a senior official of the Planning Commission will be held here Sep 14 to prepare the feasibility of Metro rail, an official said Friday said.




Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is keen to give Patna a Metro rail -- a la New Delhi. The Bihar capital is home to more than two million people.

Abhayanand, the co-founder of the pioneering coaching institute, Super 30, that grooms poor children for admission to the prestigious IITs, is the new director-general of police (DGP) in Bihar.

Criminals throw out kanwaria from running train

Patna,(BiharTimes): Ramendra Pandey, a kanwaria from Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh, was killed when three armed criminals threw him out of a compartment of the running 6 Dn Amritsar-Howrah Express near Barhaiya railway station on the Kiul-Mokamah section of Danapur division of the East Central Railway (ECR) in the wee hours of Tuesday.
