Patna HC orders arrest of 233 mukhiyas of Sitamarhi

A single bench of Justice Shailesh Kumar Sinha of the Patna High Court on Thursday directed the state government to execute the February 2011 order of Chief Judicial Magistrate of Sitamarhi, to arrest 233 mukhiyas of the district for purchasing around 4,500 duplicate solar lamps and thus causing loss of crores of rupees to the state exchequer.

Fight against graft, get rewarded in Bihar

In a move to encourage people to fight against graft, the Bihar government has announced to reward up to Rs.50,000 to those who help trap officials who take bribes, officials Tuesday said.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said the state government was working to launch a special scheme to reward people who would help trap corrupt officials.

Bihar growth rate to be 10.05 per cent in 2010-11

PATNA: The growth rate for Bihar for 2010-11 is projected at 10.05 per cent, a marginal fall from 11.70 per cent during the corresponding period previous year, according to the state’s economic survey 2010-11 presented in the state Assembly today.

Bihar uses least power, Delhi the most

NEW DELHI: The union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli tops the list on per capita power consumption in the country at 11,863.64 kWh while Bihar is at the bottom with just 122.11 kWh usage, as per information available with the power ministry.

now day bihar not stands in development as comared to other state why?

Every state technical university but bihar have not why ?


student from bihar goes to other state for technical study it increase the burdon of loading and boarding. In past we have nalanda viswavidalay but today in technical era where technology is in demand why we no technical university of state like present in other state.

Rural Bihar witnesses highest inflation rate in India

Patna,(BiharTimes): Sounds somewhat ironic. Bihar, the poorest state in the country, had the highest inflation rate, especially in the rural areas, in the period between 2008 and 2011.

While a rural Bihari spends just Rs 26 a day, which is lowest in India, the state had witnessed an annual inflation of 14.8 per cent leaving the other states far behind. Much developed Karnataka and Haryana had registered the inflation of 13.2 per cent during this period.

Bihar government officials to be fined for tardy work

Patna, July 28 (IANS) Come Independence Day, August 15, and government officials who do not perform the common man's jobs within a stipulated timeframe will face a fine that can go up to Rs.5,000
