Bihar big leap towards 'power'

Bihar has attempted a big leap today towards self-sufficiency in power generation," said chief minister Nitish Kumar after he broke a coconut and laid the foundation stone of a 1980MW thermal power project at Shivanpur in Aurangabad district on Saturday.

Investments for heavy industries in Bihar not possible without proper power supply: Aditya Birla Group

PATNA: The investments for the heavy industries won't be possible without ensuring proper power supply and also proposed that Bihar should take steps to bring improvement in its situation, said Mr Kumarmanglam Birla, Chairman of Aditya Birla Group.

Bihar fails to utilize central fund for toning up urban transport

Following non-utilization of fund the urban development department may be compelled to return Rs 70 crore sanctioned by the Centre under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) for the improvement of transport system in Patna and Bodh Gaya.

Kosi gets a bridge - after 78 years

A 1.8 km bridge that will be a lifeline to millions was opened over the flood-prone Kosi in Bihar Wednesday, 78 years after an earthquake destroyed an earlier one.

Why Senthil Kumar’s house not yet confiscated?

The Bihar BJP seems to be upset over the State Vigilance Investigation Bureau’s move to approach the designated court under the provisions of the Bihar Special Courts Act, 2009, for confiscating the assets of its Katoria MLA Sonelal Hembrum. Though it is yet to issue a show-cause notice to him, what is strange is the way the party’s state chief, Dr C P Thakur, reacted: 25 lakh rupaiya kuch hai kaya (?) meaning thereby that it is too trifle an issue.

Bihar govt upset over Centre’s move to stall WB loan for power plant

The Centre has refused to accept the Bihar government’s proposal for a loan

from the World Bank (WB) for the renovation of the Barauni Thermal Power Station (BTPS).

The Nitish government had sometimes back presented a proposal before the Centre for a WB

Not even 10 per cent of Urban Development fund spent in 10 months in Bihar

Though the Urban Development department of Bihar was allotted Rs 1009 crore in the current financial year, yet in the first 10 months only Rs 79 crores has been spent.

Special provisions were made in 2011-12 budget to develop roads and drainages, especially of Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Purnea and Muzaffarpur. But the condition of these towns had hardly changed as more than 90 per cent amount remained unutilized.
