Biharis in Mumbai shocked: Nitish ends up evoking Marathi sub-nationalism

Biharis in Mumbai, especially those who attended the Bihar Diwas celebrations on Sunday (April 15) were shocked to find no mention whatsoever of the leader and people of Bihar in it. Not only that there was not a single photo of any leader of the state for which crores of rupees were spent.

In fact it ended up as a Maharashtra Diwas function organized by 36 Janata Dal (United) leaders from Bihar who attended it.

Chief minister Nitish Kumar, who was the chief guest, started his speech in Marathi. He praised the contributions of Shivaji, Shahuji, Jyotibhai Phule, B R Ambedkar etc––all the great men produced by the state in the three hundred years.

No where in the function was any mention made about Lord Sachchidanand Sinha, who played a key role in the struggle for the creation of Bihar in 1912. The first President of India, Dr Rajendra Prasad, the first chief minister of Bihar, Shri Krishna Sinha, Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan, Jan Nayak, Karpoori Thakur etc all were forgotten. There was no photo of any of these great sons of Bihar either.

Biharis present in the function were shocked by the way Nitish Kumar surrendered abjectly to the diktat of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief, Raj Thackeray.

What is strange is that not a single leader of the alliance partner, the BJP, was present on the dais. The only person who got projection in this whole exercise was none else but the chief minister, Nitish Kumar, himself. Is it because the BJP stands for Bharatiya Janata Party and not Bihar Janata Party? Or for any other reason, as there is no prefix Bihar before Janata Dal (United) too.

Instead of speaking about the glorious past of Bihar, Nitish spoke about the great men of Maharashtra. The Biharis, who attended the function, were dejected by the way the whole show was organized. None of their problems were even remotely discussed not to speak of the killing of young boy like Rahul Raj and others in Mumbai.

“Here in Mumbai, day in and day out we hear about Shivaji. We and our young generation were here to know about the great men and women of Bihar and their contribution to the nation building. It is shocking that a leader like Nitish Kumar surrendered before a bully like Raj Thackeray,” was how one of them commented.

“If he wanted to raise the Maharashtra sub-nationalism why was Nitish here in Mumbai. There are enough people for this purpose here. What about Bihar Diwas then,” asked another.

Nitish Kumar is a Gandhian. Being such a powerful leader, such a speech is derogatory. Surrendering to Raj Thackeray is like surrendering to Nazi Hitler and his killing of innocent humans. Nitish Kumar although being Chief Minister have forgotten the greatness of our forefathers like Chanakya, Chandragupta Maurya and Ashoka The Great. The 2000 years History of Bihar is much greater than 300 years old history of Maharashtra but just because of such a inferiority complex Biharis can never rise and show respect for each other. It clearly states slave class mentality of Bihari Leaders. It is really shameful.

i felt as a statesmen Nitish ji did right to built a cordial and peaceful and trustful relations among the different communities at Mumbai. BIHARIS and UP People are really doers and performers, but the problem is with the politicians who trying to use these as a FENCE to grab political gains on the sacrifices of BIHARI VOTERS.

let this goodwill continue among the BIHARIS and other communities at MUMBAI and MNS / Shivsena not get an opportunity to exploit the situation.

LOKNAYAK JP - a true patriotic democratic revolutionary - mesmerized the entire country with his LEADERSHIP.

BABU JAGJIVAN RAM - made history at Indian Social Politics

now we required these peoples vision, mission and dedication.

thank you

Thanks Mr. Prasadu for your reply. Yes People of Bihar and UP are hard workers but we need to understand that some Politicians wants to take profit from these people and ruin the peace and harmony of the local people of the different state by going their and doing political campaign but I believe its hard time People of Bihar and UP must return back to their homeland and work for their own states.

I am not fully agree with statement given by mr nitish kumar.Instead of speaking about the glorious past of Bihar, Nitish spoke about the great men of Maharashtra. The Biharis, who attended the function, were dejected by the way the whole show was organized. None of their problems were even remotely discussed.

Is Nitish ji feared of Raj Thakerey???????????????

His speach only on Maharastra shows something like this. When he told that he will have Bihar divas in Mumbai then I was very happy that Nitish ji is very courageous but after Bihar  divas celebration in Mumbai ...what I call him now? only a politician and not a Bihari.

I think , nitish has delivered correct speech at  right place with accurate timing . politics is the art of timing & manipulation & that way , he proved it. He has slapped Raj thakre but in his own style... every person have their own style of dealing issues... was it correct for a chief minister to use language like raj...no  ...& more over thousand of biharis r living there & their day to day life is related with any such negative statement by cm of bihar.....wat happened , when lalu decleared to hold chhat puja at sea shore in mumbai ? lalu never gone there but people residing there had tough life during that days....so..it"s not required to provoke common people...like raj thakre.....

Agree with Pappu ji...

Raj Thakrey is a very Harami Amanush on this Whole planet

why Nitish Kumar also taking very seriously to Raj Thakrey... Because he is a good poltician and Nitish Kumar also want to make money and he is also from Bihar but why he is playing with the sentiments of Bihari Peoples......

Stop it Mr. Nitish Kumar

Very well said Sajid ji, Raj Thakre is very amanush (inhuman) bad man on planet earth.

What Nitishji has done is right. A chief Minister should not create a flutter on arrival in a different state.. His tour should not have raised any controversy and he has ensured that. In Bombay where lakhs of biharis live and earn the CM should do nothing to creat problems for them.
